I never used to listen to audiobooks. I’m a visual person, and wasn’t sure I’d get the same enjoyment from hearing a story as I do from holding a book in my hands. A friend convinced me to give them a try, and I was hooked. Now I listen while driving, walking the dog, doing yardwork, and pretty much any time I can’t hold a book but want to. A great narrator helps, and I’m fortunate to have the fabulous Hollis McCarthy performing the Royal Scandals series. She’s amazing.

If you prefer to get your audiobooks at the library, the entire Royal Scandals series is available at libraries worldwide. Ask your librarian if you can’t find them and they’ll assist you.

Christmas Season

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. Most people are big on the eggnog, caroling, Santa visits, or shopping. I'm all about the tree. Each year, when I open my box of ornaments, there are a few in particular that make me smile. Handmade gifts from family are at the top of that list. I also have ornaments I've collected while traveling, such as a Sydney Opera House ornament, one of Westminster Cathedral, or a flower from St. Lucia. Others come from living abroad. I was fortunate enough to spend six years in Germany (and my parents were there an additional three years, during which I made as many visits as possible) and collected a number of traditional wooden German ornaments and glass or crystal Czech ornaments that spoke to me. Here are a few of my favorites. If you celebrate Christmas, let me know about yours! What makes you smile each year as you decorate your tree?

Introducing Royal Scandals

Big day of firsts here.

The first "first" happened across the pond.  Prince George was christened at St. James's Palace.  Snaps here.  Gorgeous gown on George, and mom and dad weren't looking bad, either!

The second "first" happens tonight in Boston.  Game one of the World Series between the Red Sox and Cardinals is set for an 8:07 pm first pitch at Fenway Park.  It's supposed to be chilly, so I'll be watching on television and cheering on the team with the crazy beards.  (Hey, if it works, it works.  It's not for us to question why.)

"First" number three is the one nearest and dearest to my heart.  It's the first day for my all-new Nicole Burnham website.  For the last few years, I've written books for teens under the name Niki Burnham while "Nicole" has been on hiatus from writing romance novels.  No more!  Next month, look for the first books in an all-new series of royal romances. 


If you enjoyed the San Rimini series I wrote for Silhouette, you're going to love Royal Scandals.  The series follows the wealthy Barrali family, who rule the idyllic Mediterranean island nation of Sarcaccia.  In November, look for a novella titled Christmas With a Prince, and book one in the series, Scandal With a Prince.  Then in December, book two, Honeymoon With a Prince, hits the stands.
